For the simulation of the operation of the WPP and its optimization we use the method of creating a “digital twin of wastewater treatment plants” in the GPS-X simulation program and now SUMO Dynamita. These are modern mathematical softwares that analyze in detail the processes at the wastewater treatment plant. The model simulates different scenarios of the operation of the WPP and assesses their efficiency and effectiveness. Thanks to this, it is possible design optimal process settingsthat will increase the efficiency of wastewater treatment and reduce the cost of operation
